Time Bank
A centrally co-ordinated skills exchange pool.
A Time Bank is a new kind of money based on time, you earn one unit for each hour that you give, doing things that you enjoy, that will benefit others in the scheme. The units can be spent on a whole range of skills and new opportunities on offer from the other participants. They can be given away, or saved up for future use. Anyone can participate, age, lack of finance or limited mobility are no bars to joining and everyone’s time is valued equally.
A central co-ordinator administers all activities and the Government is already very supportive in not counting units as earnings by those people in receipt of benefit.
Falmouth is looking forward to its own Time Bank. For more information about Time Banks see www.timebanks.co.uk
